The Joint Use Area is right across the street from Ikego Gate and offers free parking for SOFA-personnel. The Area is also home to a Farmers Market typically held monthly, weather permitting. The Joint Use Area boasts both a sports park and a nature park. The Joint Use Sports Park includes a 400-meter track, baseball fields, and tennis courts. The Joint Use Nature Park is a quiet place for hiking and is home to several protected species of animals. Many species of butterflies and birds call the pristine environment home. In the summer, fields of fireflies gather allowing the community to come together for viewing parties.
Further up the road from the Joint Use Area is CFA Yokosuka MWR's West Valley Campground and Paintball Paradise. Escape the hustle and bustle of city and work life by booking one of the pet-friendly cabins or spacious campgrounds located nearby. Some of the cabins even include solar power to provide air conditioning.
CFAY Public Affairs Office also operates the Housing area's Facebook page to provide command updates and upcoming events -- both inside and outside of the Ikego gates -- that are most relevant to the Ikego Heights community.
