Verny Pedestrian Gate is named after Léonce Verny, a French officer and naval engineer who led the construction of the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in the 19th Century. Verny Pedestrian Gate is within walking distance of Keikyu Shioiri Station, JR Yokosuka Station, and the City of Yokosuka’s Verny Park.
Verny Pedestrian Gate is sometimes referred to as Coaska Gate and Walking Gate. It has previously had nicknames including AEON Gate and Daiei Gate depending on the shopping center’s operator.
