Welcome to Sasebo, the "Pearl of Japan"!

Congratulations on your orders to Sasebo Japan and welcome onboard as a
member of one of the best kept secrets of the Pacific. You are about to
embark on an exciting tour of duty in the fast paced seventh fleet area of
operations. Sasebo is an exciting place to live and is home to the only
forward deployed Expeditionary Strike Group. From the “99” Islands to Mt.
Aso, from fireworks to tea ceremonies, there is much to see and do in
Sasebo and throughout Kyushu. Come with an open mind and enthusiasm to take
advantage of all the region has to offer.

As the Command Master Chief, please allow me to assist you in ensuring a
successful transition to your new home in Japan. If you’ve received your
orders, it is our focus to ensure your sponsor is assigned and contacts you
as soon as possible. If you have not been contacted by your sponsor email
CFASASEBOSPONSORSHIP@US.NAVY.MIL or see the Need a Sponsor? section. It is
my duty to make certain that you and your family are well taken care of.
Proactive engagement on your part with your sponsor and our Ombudsman
(cfasombudsman@gmail.com), can solve many issues and concerns before you
arrive onboard, thus paving the way for a smooth transition.

Please check out the Welcome Aboard Package for a wealth of information to
help with your relocation. The Getting Here page should be particularly
helpful with moving and directions to get from the airport to CFAS. The
Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) has many helpful programs for the
whole family, including the Area Orientation Brief/Inter-Cultural Relations
class (AOB/ICR) that all new Sailors and adult family members must take
upon arrival. Don’t miss the Housing Welcome Center page and don’t forget
to check out what MWR has to offer.
