Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Empower forward-deployed U.S. and Allied Forces while providing superior support to their families and our community.  Provide Force Protection through strength and trust - Detect, Deter, and Defeat all attacks.

Our Vision Statement

Fleet Activities Sasebo defines excellence in Shore Installation management through positive proactive enduring leadership and seamless command integration.  We provide facilities, resources, and improved services for home-ported commands to support mission success.

Command Philosophy

'Communicate Fiercely' (‘Listen and Pay Attention’).  You should expect clear communication of goals and expectations from your Command Triad.  For our middle managers, create an open forum of dialogue both up and down the Chain of Command.  For our junior Sailors, communicate your concerns and never be the senior person with a secret (especially the bad).  For all, listen to each other...whether it's lending a compassionate ear to someone in need, considering a differing perspective, or being receptive to a new idea: we can learn from each other daily.  Great teams value opinions of every member and figure out how to empower, even the most junior members.

'Own It' ('Do the Right Thing and Increase your Level of Knowledge’).  You have to own it.  Strengthen the fires of your personal initiative and find your passion.  Figure out how you can personally contribute to our team by doing the right things to support the mission.  Exhibiting optimism and a positive mental attitude gets us through hard times and takes us to new heights with personal or organizational goals.

'Be Transparent' (‘Be Respectful’).  If you can't explain your decision/actions, you're doing it wrong.  Bottom line: be thoughtful, be mindful, and be good because your team is counting on you.
