Safety

Mission:
Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo (CFAS) Installation Safety Office serves as an advocate for promoting a safe and healthful workplace for our units and tenant activities free of recognized hazards. Through the extensive use of Risk Management System (RMS), we strive to reduce injuries and illness, diminish occurrence and severity of mishaps, and improve operational readiness. This will be accomplished through the effective implementation and management of the Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) program and training/education through the application of the Navy Safety Management System (NSMS).

Guiding Principles:
Leaders are committed to providing a safe and healthful working environment, developing, and enforcing regulations and policies directed toward the elimination of hazards and unsafe acts. The culture of safety is a mindset that is practiced both on and off duty. Reduce/eliminate safety hazards by identifying, reporting, and taking corrective action through proper and effective abatement processes. Every Sailor, Marine and Civilian Employee at CFAS is expected to accept responsibility for their safety and to be an advocate for the safety of others. Every Sailor, Marine and Civilian employee is expected to report unsafe/unhealthful working conditions and behaviors in the workplace. Every Mishap, incident and near-miss will be examined to determine root cause to prevent recurrence.
