Port Operations are conducted at White Beach Naval Facility, located on the far coast of Okinawa in the Heshikiya District, near the southeast end of the island. White Beach Naval Facility's two Army and Navy Piers have handling facilities and wharfs for crude oil and related products.
White Beach Naval Facility is the primary staging area for Amphibious load out of the Okinawa based Marine Expedition Unit (MEU) and their equipment. This departure point allows utility landing craft and air-cushioned landing vehicles to ferry troops, vehicles and equipment to amphibious ships pier side or at sea.
Port Operations Naval Facility White Beach consists of Navy personnel and MLC personnel, providing port services support to all U.S. Navy ships and submarines operating in Okinawa, Japan. The department also responsible for providing logistical support to include mooring and refueling to Military Sealifts Commands, United Nations ships operating at 7th Fleet AOR and pier side support for amphibious load out of the Okinawa based Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) vehicles and equipment.
