*Engaging men as activists and allies in the prevention of sexual assault is increasingly vital to eradicating the continuum of behaviors that can lead to battering, sexual harassment, sexual assault and other forms of abuse. Historically, these issues have been largely considered "WOMEN'S ISSUES."

In part because of this, men have not been heavily involved in educational and preventive efforts.  Therefore, by contrast, CFAO seeks to educate male Sailors and Civilians about their roles and responsibilities, and to inspire them to take active leadership on these critical issues.

On November 13, 2013 at the Camp Shield's Crow Nest, CFAO will host it's first-ever Men's Sexual Assault Awareness Symposium. The goal of this symposium is multi-faceted and is as follows:

. Raise the awareness of Male Sailors about the continuum of behaviors that can lead to battering, sexual harassment, sexual assault and other forms of abuse.
. Challenge Male Sailors to play an active role in reducing sexual violence, harassment, and abuse, and discourage them from being passive bystanders.
. Empower Navy leaders to mentor and educate their peers and junior Sailors on these issues.

The symposium will be held from 0800-1500 with a 90 minute break for lunch (Lunch will be provided in the Ballroom for purchase). The guest speaker for this event will be Pastor Nick Guerra the founder of SIR (Sexual Integrity and Restoration) a class he hosts every Friday morning at the Camp Hansen Brig.  All male

Sailors and Civilians are encouraged and welcome to attend.  If you have any questions, please contact CFAO Command SARC/EOA, Chief Tuck at the following numbers Office: 634-6438, Cell: 09097899726 or
tremayne.tuck@fe.navy.mil

***RSVP via email with the number of male Sailors from your command that will be in attendance.  This will assist with the food preparations for lunch***
