SAC Force Protection/Anti-Terrorism mission is to provide technical authority, and policy management in formulating and executing Antiterrorism, Force Protection, Physical Security to protect the command and tenants' personnel, resources and assets. NRS also provides security support services for Changi Naval Base and the Paya Lebar Air Base for personnel assigned, port visits and personnel in an official capacity.
SAC is co-located with allied forces from United Kingdom (UK). Australia (AUS), New Zealand (NZ) and Singapore (SG) on the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) Sembawang facility, which is located on a Singapore commercial port adjacent to the Johor Straits. The Joho Straits serves as the border dividing Singapore and Malaysia. Anti-terrorism duties and responsibilities are sensitive and unique.
The NZ Defense Support Unit (NZDSU) administers the Installation Auxiliary Police Forces (IAPF), consisting of warranted Singapore Police officers. These officers provide law enforcement on the Sembawang facility and the adjacent family housing area. Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel have been deployed to the Sembawang facility following 9/11 as an augmentation security force. Force protection responsibilities are closely coordinated with the local civil and military authorities to ensure AT, Police, Fire & Emergency Services are provided to U.S. Forces personnel and their families.
