Captain Silas Bouyer

A Detroit native, Captain Bouyer graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1998.  He earned his wings of gold and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in March 2000.  Additionally, he was awarded an executive master of business administration with a defense financial management focus from the Naval Postgraduate School.  

After completing initial EA-6B Prowler training, he reported to Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 136 forward deployed to NAF Atsugi, Japan.  He deployed to the Western Pacific Ocean and Arabian Gulf flying in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and IRAQI FREEDOM from USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). 

Other operational tours include flag aide to Commander, Carrier Strike Group NINE embarked in USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), VAQ-135 deployed aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68), and operations officer of USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71).  He transitioned to the EA-18G Growler with VAQ-135.  

Captain Bouyer’s shore tours include Student Control Officer at VAQ-129, flight hour program manager and airborne electronic attack readiness officer on the Commander, Naval Air Force, Pacific (CNAP) staff, and Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Diego where he had the remarkable privilege to serve as the 23rd Commanding Officer of the largest recruiting district in the Navy.  

He most recently served as the CNAP assistant chief of staff for Safety and selected as prospective commanding officer, Singapore Area Coordinator.  

Captain Bouyer has accumulated over 1,850 hours in six aircraft plus over 350 carrier arrested landings. He is entitled to wear the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Combat “V”, Strike/Flight Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.  He has been honored by his teammates who selected him as the 2004 Commander Noel Greene Inspirational Leadership Award at VAQ-136, the 2017 Commander, Navy Recruiting Region West Inspirational Leadership Award, and the CNAP 2019 Navy and Marine Corps leadership award.
