A native of Santa Monica, California, in 1989 he enlisted in the Navy. In 1994 he graduated and obtained his commission from the United States Naval Academy.
At-Sea assignments include USS BOONE (FFG-28), out of Mayport, Florida where he served as Damage Control Assistant deploying to the Mediterranean as part of the AMERICA Battle Group and to the Caribbean to conduct Counter Drug Operations as part of Western Hemisphere Group. Aboard USS SACRAMENTO (AOE-1), out of Bremerton, Washington, as the Safety Officer and Assistant Operations Officer deploying twice on WESTPAC serving in SEVENTH and FIFTH Fleets. Aboard USS GARY (FFG-51), out of Yokosuka, Japan, as Combat Systems Officer deploying to the North Arabian Sea off Pakistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and the Northern Arabian Gulf in support of UN Sanctions. GARY then later deployed in January 2003 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He served as Force Protection and C4S Officer, Destroyer Squadron FIFTY, out of Manama, Bahrain where he continued serving in Operations IRAQI FREEDOM & ENDURING FREEDOM deploying throughout the region including Southern Iraq. He served as Chief Staff Officer of Maritime Prepositioning Ship Squadron THREE aboard USNS 1st Lt Jack Lummus (T-AK 3011) forwarded deployed to the Western Pacific in support of strategic and operational forces.
Ashore assignments include the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California where he completed his graduate degree and Joint Professional Military Education. As Executive Officer for Military Sealift Command Office – Guam supporting all MSC fleet auxiliary support ships, preposition ships, and tenders.
In 2009, he joined the civil service ranks as Force Future Operations Analyst for Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Operations & Plans (N3/5) responsible for operational contingency planning, collaborative issues with Navy and other Maritime Forces, as well as policy and doctrine development for NECC forces worldwide. In 2010 he joined U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Africa (G3/5) as Exercises Director where he managed all USMC efforts in joint and combined exercises on the African continent. U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa later merged where he assumed duties as exercises lead for both continents. In 2017, he joined U.S. Army Training & Doctrine Command (G3/5/7) where he drove and honed strategies, policies, and resourcing for training programs across the Army. In 2020, he joined U.S. Africa Command (J37) where he served as the Joint Combined Exercises Branch Chief. In September 2022, he was promoted to J3 Director of Staff; senior civilian for the Operations Directorate. In October 2024, he joined Singapore Area Coordinator where he currently serves as the Installation Executive Director and senior civilian.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Naval Architecture from the United States Naval Academy and a Master’s of Science in Information Systems & Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Personal awards include: Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Medal, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ five gold stars), and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
