Commander Tyler Maness is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and a 2009 graduate of Miami University through the Naval ROTC program. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Zoology.
At sea, he served as communications officer, USS DOYLE (FFG 39) deploying to 4
th Fleet in support of counter narcotics operations; damage control assistant, USS DEFENDER (MCM 2); chief engineer, USS CHIEF (MCM 14) both forward deployed to the Seventh Fleet area of responsibility operating out of Sasebo, Japan; chief engineer, USS ROSS (DDG 71) forward deployed to Rota, Spain deploying to both Fifth and Sixth Fleet areas of responsibility in support of multiple strike group deployments; operations officer, Amphibious Squadron ELEVEN (CPR 11) forward deployed to Seventh Fleet in support of Navy and Marine Corps Crisis Response Force operations.
Ashore, Commander Maness was an instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School (SWOS). He was an instructor in N74, Engineering Department, teaching the Prospective Engineering Officer (PEO) Course, within the diesel pipeline as the course lead for the MCM specific PEO course.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement medal (two awards) and multiple unit and service awards and ribbons.
