Commander Mariah Rule commissioned via Officer Candidate School in 2000. Upon commissioning, she began flight training and was selected to enter the E-2C Hawkeye pipeline. She reported to the Greyhawks of VAW-120 and received her wings of gold on September 14, 2001. She then reported to the TIGERTAILS of VAW-125 and immediately went on deployment with the Washington Strike Group in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM. She completed another deployment with the Kennedy Strike Group flying in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Commander Rule returned sea with the SEAHAWKS of VAW-126 deploying with the Truman Strike Group in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. She also served aboard USS GERALD R. FORD as the Strike Operations Officer.
Ashore, Commander Rule was honored to be selected and trained as a Level V Weapons and Tactics Instructor at the Hawkeye Weapons and Tactics Unit. She served as the Executive Assistant of the J5, Strategy and Policy Directorate, at the United States Joint Forces Command, introduced the Advanced Hawkeye to the fleet as the Officer in Charge of the E-2D Fleet Introduction Team, and worked on the Naval Integrated Fires Campaign at N8/N9 United States Fleet Forces Command uniting a broad group of supporting stakeholders and fleet operators to evaluate cutting edge tactics, techniques, and procedures while combining all warfare communities. Most recently she served as the Fixed Wing Operations Officer for Naval Air Force Atlantic.
Commander Rule proudly wears the two Air Medals (Strike/Flight), Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and other individual, campaign, and unit awards.
