CMDCM Suxuan Oonyu

Command Master Chief Oonyu entered active service in the United States Navy in 2000. After graduating from Recruit Training Command, she completed Hospital Corps “A” School and Surgical Technology “C” School. Her assignments as a Hospital Corpsman included U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Naval Medical Center San Diego, Naval School of Health Sciences San Diego, USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8). As an instructor at NSHS-SD, she contributed to Surgical Technology program development and became published in Surgical Technology for the Surgical Technologist. While assigned to MAKIN ISLAND, she was selected for Chief Petty Officer.

Her Senior Enlisted Leader tours included 3rd Medical Battalion, 3d Marine Logistics Group (3d MLG), and U.S. Naval Medical Readiness and Training Command (USNMRTC) Okinawa. She was then selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program and served as Command Senior Chief onboard USS MIGUEL KEITH (ESB 5) Military Crew (BLUE), and Command Master Chief onboard USS HALSEY (DDG 97). She is currently assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa (CFAO) as the Command Master Chief.
Her deployments and operational experience include Operation BRAVA, Expeditionary Medical Facility Djibouti Horn of Africa, Exercise Cobra Gold, Combined and Joint Operation Balikatan, three Western Pacific Deployments, Exercise Milan 2024, Tiger Triumph, and Tenacious Trident.

Master Chief Oonyu’s professional education and certifications include an Associates of Arts Degree, Plans Operations and Medical Intelligence, Navy Enlisted Leader Development Facilitator, Certified Project Officer, Certified Postsecondary Instructor, Senior Enlisted Academy Class 225 (8SEA), Command Master Chief-Chief of the Boat (8CSC/8CMC), and Advanced Command Master Chief. She is currently completing her bachelor's in healthcare administration and attends Arizona State University in the Military Studies program.

Master Chief Oonyu’s personal decorations include: Master Training Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, Army Achievement Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal with two bronze stars, and multiple sea service deployment and unit awards.
