Commander Corky S. Maschke

CDR Maschke was born in San Diego, CA 01 August 1986.  He was primarily raised in Ohio and graduated from Mt. Gilead High School in May 2005. He continued to The Ohio State University, majoring in History and joining the NROTC program, graduating and commissioning in June 2009.  In October 2009, he moved to Pensacola, FL and began API for his initial flight school training.  In May 2010, he completed API training and proceeded to fly T-34s with VT-28 in Corpus Christi, TX to complete Primary training.  In February 2011, he completed Primary training and moved back to Pensacola, FL to complete Advanced training flying the TH-57 Jet Ranger helicopter.  CDR Maschke earned his wings on June 2011 to continue his aviation career flying the MH-60R helicopter out of NAS Jacksonville.
In March 2012, CDR Maschke completed his FRS training at HSM-40 and was stationed right next door at NAS Jacksonville flying for HSM-70.  He served there for four years in support of CVW-8 and CVN-77, with a 9 month deployment to 5th fleet in 2014 and accumulating over 1000 flying hours in the MH-60R.  In April 2016, he transitioned to his shore tour working as a TH-57 Instructor Pilot at HT-28 out of NAS Whiting Field instructing as a primary NATOPS instructor and teaching over 15 sets of on-wings. In October 2018, he moved to Japan for the very first time and became a Shooter for CVN-76 out of NS Yokosuka. He served as V-2 Division Branch Officer and V-5 Division Officer while in support of 7th fleet operations for back to back 6 month deployments, launching on average 20 aircraft per carrier launch/recovery cycles.
 
In October 2019, CDR Maschke successfully selected for Operational Department Head and promoted to 0-4.  He transferred back to NAS Jacksonville in March 2020 and once again worked at HSM-70 flying the MH-60R while serving as Safety Officer, Training Officer, Detachment 1 OIC and Operations Officer in support of CVW-8 and the brand new CVN-78 Ford Class Carrier. 
 
In February 2023, CDR Maschke transferred and became a part of the Naval Air Facility Misawa team as the new Air Operations Officer to fly C-12s. CDR Maschke has recently assumed Acting Executive Officer for NAF Misawa starting 01 April 2025 until his departure on 5 August 2025 for his next Command as XO and CO for Navy Talent Acquisition Group Philadelphia. CDR Maschke is accompanied by his wife of 3 years Ashley Maschke and his 19 month old son Wyatt Maschke.
