Captain Jeremy N. Lyon

Captain Jeremy N. Lyon, a native of Hesperia, California, is a career Naval Flight Officer and Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance (MPR) professional. He is a 2001 graduate of the University of Arizona, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. He holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Conflict Resolution from American Military University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
 
Commissioned through Officer Candidate School in 2002, Captain Lyon earned his Wings of Gold in 2003. He began his operational flying career with the “Grey Knights” of Patrol Squadron FORTY SIX (VP-46), where he was designated as an Instructor Tactical Coordinator (TACCO) and Mission Commander. While assigned to VP-46, he deployed twice to the U.S. SEVENTH Fleet, conducting operations across Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Australia, the Philippines, and Guam. Additional operational sea tours include service as OPS ADMIN and Tactical Action Officer (TAO) aboard USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77); Department Head with the “Golden Swordsmen” of VP-47 in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; and Commanding Officer of the “Fighting Tigers” of VP-8, where he led the squadron through a successful split-site deployment to the Western Pacific and U.S. Central Command.
 
Ashore, Captain Lyon has held a variety of critical assignments. He served as Operations Officer for Commander, Task Force FIFTY-SEVEN (CTF-57) in Manama, Bahrain, and deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM to Camp Slayer, Baghdad, where he coordinated MPRA support to Multi-National Forces–Iraq. Additional shore assignments include instructor duty at VP-30 as a designated Orion Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI); Fleet Training Department Head and Assistant Officer-in-Charge at the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Weapons School (MPRWS); and Congressional Appropriations Liaison in the Office of the Secretary of the Navy, where his portfolio included Naval Aviation, Aircraft Carriers, Ammunition Procurement, Special Access Programs, and oversight for the House Appropriations Committee. He most recently served as Deputy Commander, Task Force SIX SEVEN (CTF-67) in Sigonella, Italy.
 
Captain Lyon has logged over 2,400 flight hours in the P-3C Orion and P-8A Poseidon. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and numerous unit and campaign awards.Captain Jeremy N.
