Traffic Court is held every other Thursday between 1400-1600. If you receive a traffic citation, you have 14 days from the date of citation to schedule traffic court if you wish to contest your ticket. Appearance at Traffic Court is not mandatory; however failure to appear will result in the appropriate points being assessed and/or suspension or revocation of your license. To schedule a traffic court date call 243-9052.
Traffic Court is presided over by an Officer or Warrant Officer who is not affiliated with CFAY Security to ensure unbiased proceedings. There are no fines for traffic violations onboard Fleet Activities, Yokosuka. A point system is utilized, with infractions resulting in points against your driver’s license. Infractions vary in how many points are deducted with the decision resting with the Traffic Court Judge. If 12 points are received within a 12 month period or 18 points within a 24 month period, the driver’s license will be suspended. Also keep in mind that three parking tickets within a twelve month period or less will result in a 30 day driver’s license suspension. A subsequent ticket received within six months will result in a 60 day license suspension, and a fifth parking ticket will result in a 120 day license suspension.
