Base leadership remains committed to improving and revitalizing an aging infrastructure of base facilities, housing and work areas. The Public Works Department oversees numerous projects including a state-of-the-art main gate the headquarters facility in addition to demolition of older sites to make way for future projects.
Commander Fleet Activities, Yokosuka boasts some of the largest and best of everything the Navy has to offer. Over 50 forward-deployed tenant commands in Yokosuka support WESTPAC operating forces, including principle afloat elements of the United States Seventh Fleet and Commander Destroyer Squadron 15, including the only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76).
