Originally a Japanese Imperial Navy ordnance facility, modern-day Ikego Housing Detachment features more than 850 housing units and is about a 30-minute drive away from Yokosuka Naval Base. The area covers approximately 710 acres, including about 620 acres of Zushi City, which accounts for 14.5% of the city’s area.
Ikego offers a variety of services and facilities including:

Just outside the Ikego gates, you'll find the Keikyu Jinmuji train station, giving residents direct access to public transportation. There's also the Joint Use Area right outside the gates with free parking for SOFA-personnel and a Farmers Market held quarterly. The Joint Use Area is both a sports park and nature park. The Joint Use Sports Park includes a 400-meter track, baseball fields, and tennis courts. The Joint Use Nature Park is a quiet place for hiking. It includes a pond and is home to protected species of animals.
