Maintaining peak physical condition is a critical piece of our warrior ethos. It can also be challenging in a hot, humid, tropical environment like Singapore. Recognizing this, the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) team joined forces with Public Works Department Singapore for a significant renovation of the installation’s gym. They enhanced the facilities and brought updated equipment to the fitness hub, directly supporting the mission of enabling and supporting the fighter in Singapore.
A Partnership for Preservation: Sembawang’s Black and White Houses Get a New Lease on Life

The air in Sembawang hums with a unique blend of history and modernization. Among the bustling streets and present-day developments, stand elegant reminders of Singapore's colonial past: the iconic black and white houses. These architectural gems, with their striking facades and spacious verandas, evoke a bygone era. The quiet streets of the Sembawang black and white neighborhood are a haven for residents and nearby neighbors. Here, one can often find people enjoying leisurely strolls, bike rides, jogs, or simply the serene atmosphere while observing the local wildlife, including their coveted permanent residents, the monkey troops. In a heartening display of community spirit and heritage preservation, one such house underwent a remarkable transformation, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Singapore Area Coordinator and Cushman and Wakefield.
U.S. Navy Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Caroline H. Lui, a native of Arcadia, California, the deputy public affairs officer of Commander, Task Force 70, sculpts an F-35C Lightning II fighter jet out of snow ahead of the 75th Annual Sapporo Snow Festival. Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147 became the first squadron of U.S. Navy F-35C aircraft to be forward-deployed to Japan when it arrived in November 2024. Approximately two million visitors from around the globe visit the festival each year to see hundreds of snow and ice sculptures. This is the 40th year the U.S. Navy has participated in the festival, allowing Sailors a unique opportunity to experience Japanese culture and tradition while strengthening the close friendship between the U.S. Navy and citizens of Japan.
