CMDCM (SW/AW) Earl Johnson

Command Master Chief Johnson enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1994 through the Tampa Military Entrance Processing Station. He attended Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. His assignments include Marine Corps Security Guard, Marine Corps Security Force Company, Keflavik, Iceland; and Mortarman, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, weapons platoon, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
 
He joined the United States Navy in January 2000, where he served as an Electrician’s Mate aboard the amphibious assault ship USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7), and Gas Turbine System Technician aboard the destroyer USS STUMP (DD 978), both homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. He also served as Gas Turbine System Technician (Electrical) Leading Petty Officer assigned to Assault Craft Unit FOUR, Little Creek, Virginia. His follow-on tour assignments include, Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois; Gas Turbine System Technician (Electrical) Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard the destroyer USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62), Yokosuka, Japan; Gas Turbine System Technician (Electrical) Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard the guided missile cruiser USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58), homeported in Mayport, Florida; and Canvass Recruiter, Navy Recruiting District New England, Boston, Massachusetts.
 
In March 2016, he was selected into the Command Master Chief Program and reported to the Military Entrance Processing Station, Memphis, Tennessee, as the Senior Enlisted Advisor. In June 2018, he was assigned as the Command Master Chief onboard the USS ROSS (DDG 71), homeported in Rota, Spain. In November 2019, he was assigned as Command Master Chief at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Okinawa, Japan. Before assuming the position of Command Master Chief at Naval Air Facility Misawa, Japan, he served as Command Master Chief aboard USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20), homeported in Sasebo, Japan.
 
Command Master Chief Johnson’s professional military education includes Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Leadership Course. He earned a Bachelor in Science in Sports and Health Sciences from American Public University, Charles Town, West Virginia.

His military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal, and various unit and service medals and ribbons
