Command Master Chief (SW/AW) Dennis W. Hunt

Command Master Chief Dennis W. Hunt, a native of Tampa, Florida, enlisted in the Navy in January 1997.  After graduating from Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, he reported to Naval Technical Training Center at Corry Station Pensacola, Florida for Cryptologic Technician Collection (CTR) ‘A’ School.

Master Chief Hunt’s career has encompassed numerous overseas tours stationed in Japan and Spain and stateside tours in Hawaii and Colorado.  He has served with five Forward Deployed ships, deployed with multiple PACFLT/LANTFLT combatants conducting CNO directed special operations, and with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron ONE (VQ-1) the World Watchers.  His operational experience includes multiple surface and subsurface deployments within the FIFTH, SIXTH, and SEVENTH Fleet AORs, aircrew missions on board EP-3E aircraft accruing 1,000+ flight hours supporting PACOM priorities, and an operational staff tour with Commander SEVENTH Fleet, permanently embarked on board USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19), as the Fleet Assistant Cryptologic Resource Coordinator & Fleet Assistant Collection/ISR Manager.  His deployments have supported multiple exercise and real-world events to include response to 9/11 within the SIXTH Fleet AOR, OPERATION DESERT FOX, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and OPERATION TOMODACHI.  Ashore, Master Chief Hunt has served as a Joint Service Senior Enlisted Leader, Detachment Senior Enlisted Leader, and a Joint Military Operations watch floor supervisor.

Selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program in 2017, his Command Master Chief tours include USS WARRIOR (MCM 10), homeported in Sasebo, Japan and Airborne Command & Control Squadron (VAW) ONE TWO FIVE, based in Iwakuni, Japan.  In 2021 he reported to Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo Japan where he serves the Command Master Chief.


Master Chief Hunt is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class NR18 Green Group, 2007) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course (Class 137, 2017).  He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business and Management from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Business Administration.  His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), as well as various campaign, service, and unit awards.
